Guwahati, 7th March, 2023: The Department of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University is going to organise the first ever Alumni Meet on 19th March 2023 (Sunday). The fifty five years old department has covered courses like diploma (Bachelor of Communication and Journalism) and PG courses and research (including M.phill and PhD). Since its inception in the year 1967, the department has produced several journalists who are working in different government department and private organisations.
“With this alumnus meet, our main objective is to facilitate a platform whereby our past students can reconnect to the department and a strong bond between the dept. and the alumni can be established”, said Dr. Chandan Kr. Goswami, Head(i/c), Dept of Communication and Journalism, Gauhati University. Dr. Chandan Kumar Goswami further added, “The Dept. of Communication and Journalism since last 55 years have contributed immensely in the sphere of Journalism and Mass Media and through this press meet we would like to appeal all the alumni to be a part of it and thereby enrich the meet with their presence”.
Nilakshi Kalita, convenor, publicity committee informed the newsmen present during the press meet that there would be meet and greet sessions of the alumni, a memorial lecture, formation of an alumni association, a cultural program and a host of other activities throughout the day.
Dr. Rabindra Sharma, General Secretary of the proposed Alumni Meet, while briefing the session gave the details of the registration process.
