NEPALI LIT FEST AT HAWAIPUR

Daylong program conducted to mark the importance; growth and the way forward towards consolidating further the rich cultural heritage and literature of Nepali community

 

 

Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha in association with ANSS, Hawaipur Unit and Hawaipur Sangam Kirtan Mandali organized a daylong program at Hawaipur, Karbi Anlgong, Assam on 30th of August, 2015 commemorating  Nepali Manyata Divas( Nepali language recognition day), Balidan Divas, and Nepali Sahitya Divas( Nepali Sahitya Day).

A congregation which is being represented by the prominent and leading Nepali Litterateurs from across Assam, the literature festival which was initiated with poem recitation, followed the general meeting where the General Secretary Dr. Chintamoni Sharma, Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha summarized the activities of ANSS in the previous years in strengthening the cultural roots of Nepali community and in spreading the importance and necessity to preserve and maintain the rich Nepali literature.

Presided over by the president of ANSS, Shri Dambar Dahal, the program also witnessed the poem recitation  by leading and Sahitya Academy Awardee Durga Khatiwara, also the vice-president of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha.

Dr. Dilip Kr. Kalita, Director, Anandaram Baruah Language, Art and Cultural Organisation, Guwahati, Assam was invited as the special guest on the occasion. Dr. Baruah talked about the integral role played by the Gorkhas towards preserving not only the cultural heritage of Gorkha community but also the Assamese community at large. He mentioned about his school days’ friends who were much ahead than him in the Assamese literature. He talked in the Nepali language thereby enthralling the audience present on the occasion.

Two books  named Bhae Darshan Ko Majheri Ma , written by Rana Kafle and Nepali Gaonkhane Katha by Homa Guragain were also inaugurated on the occasion.

Besides literature extravaganza, there was a spectacular show of different Nepali traditional dance forms on the occasion.

Moreover, Shri  Loknath Upadhyaya, Chairman of Gorkha Development Council also graced the occasion and apprised the audience with the development works initiated by Gorkha Development Council.   Other dignitaries on the dais to mark the day were Niru Sarma Parajuli, Working President, Assam Sahitya Sabha, Gyan Bahadur Chetri, President, Assam Nepali Natya Sammelan, Prof. Bhabani Pd Sarma, Vice-President, Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha and a host of other personalities.
