Asom Everest Expedition 2015

Assam Mount Everest Expedition team has set off yesterday morning from Guwahati. Mr Manash Barooah is leading the team of 11 members , organised by Asom Everest Expedition Organising Committee of Assam Mountaineering Association. This is the first ever expedition to the Mount Everest from Assam and is sponsored by Govt of Assam. The team includes Manash Barooah, Upen Chakraborty, Henry David Teron, Parag Kr. Das, Nanda Dulal Das, Biplob Saharia, Khorsing Terang, Dr. Jagadish Basumatary, Pranay Bordoloi, Amar Deka and  Sailen Das. The team is expected to scale the Mt Everest by first week of June next

         In recent times Adventure sports and activities have got tremendous popularity in Assam. But the promotion for the same is not initiated in a larger scale. Assam is blessed with natural beauty and is a potential state to boost up Adventure tourism. In this regard Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA) has been playing an important role since decades to promote adventure activities in Assam. Established in 1968, AMA has been organising various Mountaineering, Rock Climbing and Trekking activities.
