After several days of hard and sincere work by the students of Guwahati Medical College Hospital, the annual event Medifest came to an end with lots of fanfare and success. The event which turned out as a cultural extravaganza featured a long list of competitions along with cultural night programmes. An artistic side of the students of GMCH (Gauhati Medical College Hospital) was also seen in addressing the competitions skillfully, viz: the singing competition entitled as Aegophony, dance competition as Asterixis, cultural night as Euphoria and the like.
The event was highlighted by the latest singing heartthrob of north east Angaraag Mahanta mostly known by the youths as Papon, renowned singer Shefali Alvares and with some rocking beats of DJ Brahmin.
Among many other competitions the event also hosted a fashion show contest called De-Zenith. The auditions for which was held on 24th February in GMCH auditorium. Altogether 50 contestants, participated in the contest. The panel of jury included renowned photographer Kamal Dey, well known model Chitrali Phookan and also Syed Tanvir Alam a Faculty member of Deptt. of Micro Biology, GMCH.
Among the 50 contestants, only 9 participants were successful in making it to the finale which also includes the winner of The Mileage face of the month contest, December issue, Arindam Paul, who got a direct entry among the top 9 contestants. The judgment was done on the basis of walk, dressing sense, confidence and introduction. The show was choreographed by grooming expert Sandeep Cherian and once again Chitrali Phookan judged the show along with an upcoming fashion designer Jina Rai Baruah and health consultant and nutritionist Angshuman Dutta.
The special attraction of the contest was the appearance of Mr. Universe 2007, Mahadev Deka. The contest was successfully co-ordinated by Akshay Kumar Verma and Biswajit Konwar who is also the Cultural Secretary of GMCSU 2014-15. Himjyoti Goswami, won the title of Mr. De-Zenith, and Angelica Medhi was crowned as Miss De-Zenith. First runners up were Vishal Das, and Parismita Sharma. Marshall Teron and Anukriti Sinha were declared as 2nd runners up.
De-Zenith was powered by M Net in association with Gionee smart phones, Seema’s Seuno salon and makeover studio and Bharatiya Mahila Bank.
