PRSI OBSERVES NATIONAL PR DAY WITH FOCUS ON CSR

 Office bearers of Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Guwahati Chapter seen with PR practitioners and students of PR from Metropolis Institute of Media Studies on the occasion of National PR Day in Guwahati on Tuesday.

GUWAHATI, APR 22: National Public Relations Day was observed by the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Guwahati Chapter on Tuesday through a discussion programme in which members of the Chapter, PR practitioners, and post graduate students of public relations participated in good number.

At the outset of the programme, Madhuchanda Adhikari, Chairperson PRSI Guwahati Chapter, read out the PR Day message received from Dr Ajit Pathak, National President of PRSI, which focussed on the theme adopted for the current year, “Better PR for effective CSR.” Pathak stated in his message, “While we want to progress, we do not want islands of prosperity around which there is darkness of poverty, hunger, and frustration. Public Relations which is the management of effective image building and creating bridges of trust is also a platform that needs not just the communicators but also the social scientists. Let us all join hands to give our best PR services to reach out to the poorest of the poor in the society with right opportunities and empower them for a better tomorrow.”

In the discussion that ensued thereafter, the chairperson said actions speak more than the word and hence corporate social responsibility was important because it provided the companies to showcase action in serving the society. Jumita Saikia Phukan (NEDFi), Suchira Nandi Purkayastha (DS Group), Hamad Berlashker (Tangent PR), Amlan Bezbaruah (Dainik Janashadharan) and Nurul Laskar (ANREM) spoke on different aspects of PR & CSR. A large team of post graduate students specialising in public relations from the Metropolis Institute of Media Studies (MIMS) also took part in the interaction that followed the discussion.
