PRSI to hold programme on Public Relations in Tezpur University in April

GUWAHATI, MARCH 22: The Executive Committee of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Guwahati Chapter held a meeting on Saturday to review its performance during the foregone year and draw up a plan of action for the current year. Madhuchanda Adhikari, Chairperson (NRL), Jumita Saikia Phukan (NEDFi), Bimal Krishna Sarma (Govt Film Institute) , Juhi P Pathak (IDOL Gauhati University), Hamad Berlashker (Tangent PR), Amlan (Dainik Janashadharan), Suchira Nandi Purkayastha (DS Group),   Chandrakala Choudhury (DD NE), and Nurul Laskar (ANREM) attended the meeting.

While reviewing the performance of the Chapter, commendation was showered on the editorial team of the journal ‘Seven Sisters’ which was adjudged as the best in the country at the last national PR Conference held at Jaipur in December 2014. Juhi Pathak, the newly inducted Editor of the Chapter, informed that articles for the next issue of the journal would be received till May 9, 2015.

The Chapter decided to hold a joint meeting of all the Directorates of Information & PR of the eight North Eastern States in the near future to chalk out a joint strategy for skill building in PR for the stakeholders of the region.

Following the National Public Relations Day programme to be hosted on April 21, 2015 a joint programme in collaboration with Tezpur University will be organised at the University where various aspects of Public Relations such as scope and employment opportunities in PR, crisis management, corporate gifting, media management, corporate social responsibility etc would be analysed for the benefit of the student community and PR practitioners.

The Committee also decided to undertake a vigorous membership drive to induct all PR practitioners from corporate bodies, industries, hospitals, educational institutions, PSUs etc to energise the Guwahati Chapter and thereafter initiate efforts to set up new chapters in all state capitals of the North East.
