Dr Juhi P Pathak receives Dr Sarojini Naidu International Award

Dr Juhi P. Pathak, an author, researcher, academician and social worker from Assam, has been conferred with the prestigious 6th Edition of Dr Sarojini Naidu International Award for Working Women 2022 at an award ceremony held at the Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT) Marwah Studios, Noida Film City, Delhi NCR on 11th October 2022. The award was presented by the President of the International Chamber of Media & Entertainment Industry (ICMEI) and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts, Dr Sandeep Marwah in the presence of Chief Guests Padma Shri Ms Prathibha Prahlad, Padma Shri Ms Kumari Devayani and Dr Phani Jayanthi Sen.

Dr Juhi P Pathak specialises in print, television, films and media ethics. She is the General Secretary of a Delhi-based NGO, Capt. Ayush Purusartha Foundation (CAPF) and Honorary Deputy Director at Altruist Centre for Research, Training and Development (ACRTD). ACRTD is the research and skill development wing of CAPF. She is an Assistant professor with a private University in Greater Noida, and is one of very few Assamese to be awarded Dr Sarojini Naidu – The Nightingale of India – International Awards for Working Women till now out of 600 women from all parts of India and abroad who have been decorated with this award since its inception.

Dr Sarojini Naidu International Award for Working Women is after the name of well-known Indian freedom fighter, poetess and lawyer Dr Sarojini Naidu. The prestigious International Award for Working Women was constituted in 2015 to honour and appreciate all those Women who have done commendable work in their respective fields and also work towards the upliftment of society. Dr Pathak received this award in her capacity as an “Educationist” and her award had the citation that it was conferred “for the sincere contribution to the growth of the country”.

This is one of the most popular and prestigious awards in India for women. The award is supported by a large number of social and cultural organizations like the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment Industry, AAFT University of Media and Arts, Asian Unity Alliance, World Peace Development and Research Foundation, among others.

On the academic front, She is an alumnus of prestigious institutions like Cotton College, Gauhati University, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication and Mumbai University among others. She has also completed her second Masters in International Relations and pursuing her third Masters in Political Science. She is UGC NET/JRF (Mass Communication) and has also worked with the Department of Communication at Gauhati University as a Junior Research Fellow; and also takes pride in having taught in the Department as well as in the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL, Gauhati University) in the same capacity.

She has authored four books. The first two books ‘Introduction to Media Laws and Ethics’ (1st Ed: 2014 & 2nd Ed: 2017), ‘Television Advertising Ethics and Human Rights’ (1st Ed: 2018) have been accepted as reference books in many Colleges and Universities across India. The book ‘Introduction to Media Laws and Ethics’ has been cited as a reference book by IGNOU, Delhi University, Mumbai University, Mangalore University, Mahatma Gandhi University and Dibrugarh University among other prestigious State, Central and Private Universities. The third co-authored book ‘Contemporary Media Discourses: Trends, Issues and Prospects’ has been released in 2021 as a research project under ACRTD under the aegis of CAPF.

Her fourth book ‘Film Appreciation on Cinemas (1980 to 1990) of Jahnu Barua: Social, Economic, Political and Cultural Perspectives’ has also been released in the year 2021 also as a research project under ACRTD under the aegis of CAPF.

She has received various Awards, Honours of Recognition and Letters of Appreciation from eminent government bodies, research institutions both at national and international levels.

Dr Pathak also received Letter of Appreciation for the Book ‘Film Appreciation on cinemas (1980 to 1990) of Jahnu Barua from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and National Award-winning actors from NorthEast India. She has also received various awards and certificates of merit from various educational institutions for her academic excellence including the very prestigious “Anundoram Borooah Award” awarded by the State Government of Assam and received multiple appreciations from National and International organisations including recognition from Former State Consultant of Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (ASCPCR) for contribution in the area of human rights and especially, Child Rights. She received the title of ‘Adamya: The Unconquerable’ from a reputed College under University of Mumbai, in 2022.
