Dainandin Barta, an Assamese daily media house organized a day event to celebrate its 12 years at Rabindra Bhawan in Guwahati on 17th March.
12 years from now, Dainandin Barta, an Assamese daily newspaper started its publication from Guwahati since 2010. Today, the Dainandin Barta celebrates its 12 years of existence.
DB started its journey way back in 2010 with Naren Hazarika as Editor-in-chief and Sankar Gohain as the Editor and Dimpul Chutia as the Executive Editor. Apart from daily newspaper and DB epaper, it has one print edition from Guwahati.
On 17th March 2022, The Assam Rising organized one day seminar on “Opportunites and threats of new media.” Eminent personalities like IPS Hiren Chandra Nath, Dr Amal Chandra Kataky of B Barooah Cancer Institute, Executive editor of Asomiya Khabar, Biswajit Das, veteran Journalist Nava Thakuria and others graced the panelist seat. After each discussion there was a healthy question-answer round to the audiences to which the panelists delivered their answers remarkably.
Everyone has a phone with good internet connectivity these days and with that anyone can report or view an incident or happening from anywhere the world, so does that mean everyone or anyone is a journalist? Journalist Nava Thakuria further explains how the media has changed over time and the role of a journalist must be authentic, credible and honest towards his work or duty. He highlights the importance of a true and honest journalist at this present time and motivates the young to-be journalists sitting in the audience.
After the end of the seminar, the auditorium was elevated by the presence of our honourable Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma. CM released a book tittled “Mrityunjay Bharat” written by noted social worker and intellectual Sankar Das.
On the occasion, CM also felicitated five notable figures from Assam and awarded them for their valuable contribution to the society. Dainandin Barta group instituted the awards which includes Alok Prabhanjan Award to the noted singer Sudakshina Sarma, Dainandin Barta award to the environmentalist Jadav Payeng and Assam Rising Felicitation to senior journalist Bhaben Ghimire, businessman Paban Agarwalla and youth entrepreneur Ravi Choudhary.
While founder of Alok Prabhanjan Welfare Society, Dainandin Barta and Assam Rising media group Sankar Gohain delivered the welcome speech, the programme was also addressed by author Sankar Das.
A colorful cultural night was observed in the evening session of the programme. Popular artists namely Priyanka Bharali, Sannidhya Bhuyan, RJ Preety, Minimi, Dipak Sarma et al had turned the occasion into a mega night, giving an energetic closure to the celebration by their melodious songs, gigs and performances.
