A clear visionary, way ahead of her time, Dr. Blossom Kochhar is the founder of The Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies. Within the beauty industry Dr. Kochhar is considered a pioneer as she has been practicing and researching the science of ‘Aromatherapy and Herbalisim’ well over 25 years. This knowledge has led to the manufacture of her own range of aromatherapy based skincare and beauty products under the brand name ‘Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic’. As the Chairperson of Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies, her name is synonymous with successful brands – Blossom Kochhar Aroma Magic, and Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts & Design. Bijoy Ghimire had a chance to interview this successful entrepreneur who to a great extent revolutionized the beauty industry.

Bijoy: It was your Training Academy which paved the way for Aroma Magic journey way back in 1992, so you were not happy with the available beauty products in the market then, which propelled you to manufacture your own products?

Blossom: It was not like I was totally averse to the available products then, but my training academy necessitated me to search for something more natural and fresh.

Bijoy: Besides producing beauty products, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies also manufacture products which can prevent or cure diseases?

Blossom: Aroma Magic products have soothing affect on the outer surface of the skin which eventually paves the way towards de-stressing the human mind. And if one is relaxed, the chances of getting ill are mitigated. That way Aroma Products have been very instrumental in preventing lifestyle induced ailments to many of our customers.

Bijoy: What is the difference between healing through Aromatherapy and Ayurvedic treatment?

Blossom: There is a difference.  Aromatherapy uses smell to heal and is applied externally. It uses no chemicals as such. On the other hand, in Ayurveda significance of smell of any of its products is not taken into account and Ayurvedic products  are used both ways:  they are applied externally and ingested.

Bijoy: It’s been more than two decades that your products are being used by parlours and retail shops across the country, is there any instance when any customer complained about your products in terms of any adverse affect after using it?

Blossom: No not yet, because we use no chemicals or any artificial stuff in its manufacturing. So customers getting adversely affected by our products are irrelevant.

Bijoy: What do you have to say about Mushrooming Spa and Wellness Centre?

Blossom: It is a good sign. The chances of getting our products sold are increasing and at the same time people are becoming more conscious about keeping them beautiful and healthy.

Bijoy: How popular are your products in Northeast India?

Blossom:  They are becoming popular every subsequent day. Those who understand the significance of Aroma Magic products are using it since long.

Bijoy: Tell us something about Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts and Design? Are you planning to start any institute under the aegis of Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies in Assam or Northeast India?

Blossom: Yes, here we train raw talent coming from different walks of life, the different aspects of Creative Arts and Design. By now we have our presence in most of the metropolitan cities.

As of now there are no such plans to start any such institute in Northeast but yes in the near future we might take initiative keeping in mind the growing fashion industry of the region.

Bijoy: Being a pioneer in the beauty industry what would you like to suggest to both established and the upcoming beauty experts of the region?

Blossom: People in this sector must have service attitude.  They should love people and most importantly beauty experts should always be open and eager to learn new developments in this area.
