GUWAHATI, FEBRUARY 23: Mamuna Rehman, senior electronic media person and News Producer of TV channel DY 365, participated in an interactive session with the trainees of Swarna Jayanti Swa Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) at Ajmal Foundation Guwahati Centre on Monday. The 90-day placement linked training programme in ‘Hospitality & House Keeping’ is organised by Guwahati Municipal Corporation under the aegis of the Union Ministry for Minority Affairs and implemented by Ajmal Foundation.

Introducing Rehman to the trainees, Nurul Islam Laskar, Project Head ANREM, informed the audience that Mamuna had her school and college education in her native town Golaghat following which she obtained her post graduate degree in mass Communication from Gauhati University in 2006. In the same year she joined the Assamese daily Janashadharan as a reporter and switched over to DY 365 in 2008 where she holds the post of News Producer today.

The trainees presented a Bhupen Hazarika number ‘manuhe manuhor babe…’ to welcome the guest following which Majaj Rasul, Project Coordinator, Ajmal Foundation gave a brief report of the various placement linked training programme the Foundation is conducting across the State.

Mamuna, in her deliberation to the trainees, stressed upon the importance of goal setting in life. Since majority of the trainees were women, she urged them to ensure that they are known by their identity which should be built on the platform of their talents. It is against the self-respect of any woman to be known as so and so’s wife or so and so’s daughter. She also narrated the travails and turmoil she had to undergo before emerging as an established media person in the State.

Resource persons of the programme Siddharta Pratim Dutta and Rupam Kakati as well as Disability Sector in-charge Ikramul Hussain also participated with the trainees in the interaction session with Mamuna Rehman that followed.
